STOP SPAM

With SpamSentinel for as little as £240/year*
The Essential Addition For Lotus Notes/Domino Email Systems

"SpamSentinel is working very well, initially it was such a shock how effective it was and it really showed us how much spam we actually receive, of course its difficult to calculate how much spam costs us as a company but anything that recovers users time has to be beneficial, one thing that's for sure is that we've certainly saved the license cost in productivity in the past month never mind a whole year."

Spam Filtering to make Notes & Domino Administrators' jobs easier!

SpamSentinel Version 7 uses dual engines that work together to identify spam and viruses. This perimeter like approach stops 75% of spam before it enters your mail system. You can expect a 99.44% block rate! This version includes a new look and feel as well as the ability to use our anti-virus feature alongside another anti-virus solution without interference.

We want you out of the Spam Business!
This means that SpamSentinel works right out of the box. You do not have to type every dirty word you know (and a few you don't know), or "train" our software, nor do you have to write complicated rules every day. Forget about 1-2 hours per day fighting the battle!

With SpamSentinel, you are a part of a spam fighting Community that is working together 24 hours per day to stop spam.

No Maintenance Software
The software is designed around completely eliminating any time you spend monitoring spam.

Self Service for End Users
All end users can receive a report of quarantined spam so they don't call you every day.

SpamSentinel automatically checks all of your Mail.box mail messages against a list on known Spam. It then moves the spam to a Quarantine Database. It works with multiple mail.box files, such as mail1.box, mail2.box, mail3.box, etc.

Compatible with any virus protection software, such as GroupShield.

Near Zero False Positives
The biggest problem with most spam filtering techniques is false positives. Keyword filters create them. Domain rules create them. Subject filtering creates them.

For starters, we do not look at Notes mail generated internally, only mail from the SMTP gateway. So, there is
0% chance of false positives from internal Notes mail.

SpamSentinel have almost no false positives because of the technology of listing
all known spam signatures in a database just like virus signatures are stored.

A message would have to be sent to thousands of external email addresses, and blocked by many of our Community users before it makes it to our real-time database.

This Community makes false positives nearly impossible.

Less Dead Letters in Mail.box
Because it stops and quarantine the spam to users that are no longer with the company, your Domino server does not spend the next 24 to 48 hours trying to reply to a bogus sender:
User ex_employee (ex_employee@acme.com) not listed in public Name & Address Book

Notes Administrators will only need to clean out their inbox once per month! That's a huge timesaver.

Maintain Organization-wide Black Lists
In addition to the database of 100+ million known spam signatures, you can also blacklist any user or domain that you choose. You can do it with a single button click, adding as many domains as you like without restarting the Domino server.

Blacklist an Entire Domain
Blacklist a single email address

Maintain Whitelists
If there is a domain or user that you always want to get through, you can use our one-button whitelist option and that will supersede our database of 100+ million spam signatures.

Whitelist an Entire Domain
Whitelist a single email address

SpamSentinel Reporting Tool
SpamSentinel comes with a reporting tool to let each person know what spam was caught. It sends a daily summary of caught messages to each user. Continuing the self-service model, Lotus Notes administrators are freed up to do productive work, and no longer have to answer user questions like "Can you tell me if an important message was blocked?"

Site Licenses Available
If you would like to block spam and deploy SpamSentinel to your entire organization, a site license may be the best option. Working in conjunction with Lotus Domino server's existing blocking technology, this adds a second layer of anti-spam protection before the mail message even enters your organization.

How Can a Community Block Spam?
There is an anti-spam Community of over 10 million people in 160 countries that work together to block spam. Each user who reports spam to the database of known spam creates a "block" for that message to all other users worldwide.

The average user reports 2 messages a day to the database. A simple click, click. However, multiplied 10 million times, creates over 20 million spam "blocks" per day. That is about 1 million "blocks" per hour, enough to stop most spam outbreaks in 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

Who Are the Spammers?
Spammers are advertisers, phishers (thieves) and viruses that send copies of themselves via email. Spammers are "successful" when a very small fraction of the recipients respond to their email, accidentally give out personal information or launch a virus program. To reach the maximum number of people, and maximize their results, the spammers send the same message to millions of email boxes.

People are Excellent at Spotting Spam, Far Better Than Computers
Because the same spam message lands in everyone's box, only one person needs to report the message to the Community. So, each of your reported spam messages to our Community can instantly help millions of other people in the Community by blocking that message from their mailbox.

How the Community Works Together for Maximum Blocking
The Community is composed of millions of individual users who receive millions of email daily. When a spam message is reported by a Community Member, the message is sent to a central database that records the spam. When the other Community Members open their email, SpamSentinel checks the new messages to see if it contains reported spam. If the Community had identified the message as spam, SpamSentinel redirects it to the Quarantine.nsf database. Today, their collective reporting power captures over 98 percent of all spam sent out on the Internet.

Trust the Community
To ensure that each Community Member only reports Spam, each participant is ranked according to the number of good reports they have made. This trust system is critical. Community members who vote with the Community have a high rating, and their votes count. Spammers who falsely pretend to be part of the Community, and who vote against the Community, have a "negative" rating and cannot influence the outcome of the vote.

Near Zero False Positives
It takes more than one person to block a message, and that person must be Trusted by the Community. Therefore your personal or business email cannot be blocked, as it cannot be received and voted on by multiple trusted Community Members.

Available to Notes / Domino via SpamSentinel
This Community Approach to Blocking Spam has been brought to the Notes/Domino world via SpamSentinel, and is available today. No other product employs this technique, which makes SpamSentinel so simple and easy to use.

Stop EMail Viruses BEFORE They Enter Your Organization
SpamSentinel automatically checks all of your Mail.box mail messages against a list on known Viruses. It then removes or quarantines each virus, depending on your preferences. Now, one product does it all!.

Sentinel Duo
Two Spam Engines to Block Spam Best
Two Anti-Spam Engines
= Better Blocking

Perimeter Blocking

= Less Mail in your EMail System

Suspect Messages sent to Junk Mail Folder

= Easier for End Users to Detect Blocked Messages
Two Anti-Spam EnginesWe have augmented the community blocking with a second, complimentary anti-spam engine that mostly identifies spam "bots", which are computers that are compromised by a virus and do nothing but send spam to you and me. Our testing indicates that the two engines "Positively agree" at least 94% of the time. That means only one engine finds a message to be spam only 6% of the time. SpamSentinel Duo now considers this "suspect" spam and sends it to the end user's JunkMail folder, where it can be checked immediately to see if it is valid, otherwise it is ignored.
So this version blocks more spam, while more correctly identifying caught valid messages.
Perimeter BlockingWhen both engines fully agree that a message is spam, we call it "Verified Spam" and put it in a perimeter database so it never even enters your email system. This technique removes 90% of all spam before it enters your email system. For an organization of 100 people receiving 20,000 spam messages daily, that means 18,000 are "verified spam" and can be put into a separate Administrative Quarantine right on the server, or auto-deleted if you prefer. This is one of the biggest improvements in this version, and it deals with the 10x increase in spam by stopping it at the perimeter. We expect no false positives in this group of messages. You can confidently ignore or delete these messages, as we have not had a single false positive in this group in all of our tests, including customer tests.
Suspect MessagesThe remaining 2,000 messages not stopped at the perimeter can now be sent to the end user's Junk mail folder, meaning 6-12 "suspect spam" are delivered to the end user daily, but unobtrusively.
When only one engine thinks a message is spam (this happens in about 3-6% of messages, you now have the option of having that message delivered to the end user and having the message appear in the JunkMail folder automatically. This has the advantage of being instantaneous (versus a daily report) and 100% self service. This solves the problem of user's wanting more frequent daily reports, or asking the administrator if a certain piece of mail has been accidentally blocked.
(This option will need to be configured manually. Until then, the daily report will still report all spam, giving you time to notify users of this change).
Easier to Detect Blocked MessagesFor a user receiving 200 spam messages per day, they will see 6-12 "suspect" spam messages in their JunkMail folder daily. Many are newsletters, or sometimes an embedded image (photo, screenshot) that gets picked up by one engine. So, if we do block a real message, it is SO MUCH EASIER to find in this folder rather than a daily report of 200 spam to examine.
The daily report was getting too big, given the 10 x increase in spam over the last 2-3 years, to be a useful end user tool.
Frank Says:This version should make you a spam stopping hero again with your end users and management.
